T dot above

Latin Capital Letter T with Dot Above · U+1E6A

Ṫ is the capital T with a dot above it. In traditional Irish spelling the dot marks lenition, a softening of the consonant, where modern Irish writes Th instead. Unicode encodes it as the precomposed character U+1E6A in the Latin Extended Additional block, and its small form is ṫ (U+1E6B). Click the tile to copy Ṫ, then paste it anywhere with Ctrl+V (Windows), Cmd+V (Mac) or a long-press → Paste on a phone.

How to type Ṫ

Ṫ is not printed on most English keyboards, but every device hides a shortcut for it. Pick your platform:

Windows

Ṫ
1E6AthenAltX
  1. In Microsoft Word, type the hexadecimal code point — 1E6A for Ṫ.
  2. Press Alt+X: the code converts into the character in place.

Tip: Ṫ has no classic Windows Alt code. Outside Word, press Win + . to open the emoji panel and look under its Symbols tab — or copy the character straight from this page, which is fastest of all.

Mac

  1. Press Control + Command + Space to open the Character Viewer.
  2. Search for "Latin Capital Letter T with Dot Above" and double-click it to insert.

Tip: The Character Viewer is the reliable route — or copy the character straight from this page.

iPhone & Android

  1. Long-press pop-ups on iPhone, iPad and Android don't cover Ṫ.
  2. Fastest route on a phone: tap the big Ṫ tile above to copy it, then long-press the text field and choose Paste.

Tip: Copying from this page works on every phone — no keyboard settings needed.

Copy-paste is a typing method too — every accented form of T copies in one click on the T with accent page, alongside the full typing guides.
