Latin Capital Letter G with Breve · U+011E
Ğ is the capital G with a breve, the rounded little smile above it. It is a letter of the Turkish alphabet, called soft g (yumuşak ge), where it lengthens the preceding vowel instead of acting like a plain G. It is a single precomposed character with the code point U+011E, and its lowercase form is ğ. How to type Ğ
Ğ is not printed on most English keyboards, but every device hides a shortcut for it. Pick your platform:
Windows
- In Microsoft Word, type the hexadecimal code point — 011E for Ğ.
- Press Alt+X: the code converts into the character in place.
Tip: Ğ has no classic Windows Alt code. Outside Word, press Win + . to open the emoji panel and look under its Symbols tab — or copy the character straight from this page, which is fastest of all.
Mac
