ğ is the small g with a breve, the rounded little smile above it. It is a letter of the Turkish alphabet, called soft g (yumuşak ge), where it lengthens the vowel before it rather than sounding like a plain g. It is a single precomposed character with the code point U+011F, and its capital is Ğ. ğ is not printed on most English keyboards, but every device hides a shortcut for it. Pick your platform:
Windows
- In Microsoft Word, type the hexadecimal code point — 011F for ğ.
