Ĝ is the capital G with a circumflex, the pointed hat accent above it. It belongs to the alphabet of Esperanto, the international planned language, where it stands for a soft G sound like the one in "gem". It is one precomposed character with the code point U+011C, and its lowercase form is ĝ. How to type Ĝ
Ĝ is not printed on most English keyboards, but every device hides a shortcut for it. Pick your platform:
Windows
- In Microsoft Word, type the hexadecimal code point — 011C for Ĝ.
- Press Alt+X: the code converts into the character in place.
