ħ is the lowercase h with a horizontal stroke through its stem. It is best known as a letter of the Maltese alphabet, where it stands for a strong, breathy sound quite different from a plain h. It is encoded at U+0127 in the Latin Extended-A block, and its capital form is Ħ (U+0126). ħ is not printed on most English keyboards, but every device hides a shortcut for it. Pick your platform:
Windows
- In Microsoft Word, type the hexadecimal code point — 0127 for ħ.
- Press Alt+X: the code converts into the character in place.
