Í is the capital i with an acute accent, the stroke slanting up to the right above it. It appears in Spanish, Portuguese, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and Icelandic, where the accent marks a stressed or long i. In Vietnamese it carries the sắc tone, and in Hanyu Pinyin the second tone of Mandarin. Its lowercase form is í (U+00ED). How to type Í
Í is not printed on most English keyboards, but every device hides a shortcut for it. Pick your platform:
Windows
- Turn on Num Lock so the numeric keypad produces digits.
- Hold Alt, type 0205 on the numeric keypad, then release Alt — Í appears at the cursor.
