i circumflex
Latin Small Letter I with Circumflex · U+00EE
î is the letter i wearing a circumflex, the small pointed hat above it. French keeps it in words like île and maître, and Romanian writes it in the country's own name, România. The accent often marks a longer vowel or a historical spelling. Its capital form is Î (U+00CE), and its code point is U+00EE. Click the tile to copy î, then paste it anywhere with Ctrl+V (Windows), Cmd+V (Mac) or a long-press → Paste on a phone.

How to type î
î is not printed on most English keyboards, but every device hides a shortcut for it. Pick your platform:
Windows
- Turn on Num Lock so the numeric keypad produces digits.
- Hold Alt, type 0238 on the numeric keypad, then release Alt — î appears at the cursor.
Tip: No numeric keypad? Press Win + . for the emoji panel (Symbols tab), or copy the character straight from this page.
Mac
- Press the Option combination for the accent — a highlighted accent mark appears, waiting.
- Type i; the two combine into î.
Tip: Easier still: press and hold the i key itself and a pop-up offers î — type the number shown under it.
iPhone & Android
- On an iPhone or iPad, press and hold the i key on the on-screen keyboard.
- A pop-up row of accented versions appears — slide your finger to î and release.
Tip: The pop-up row comes from the letter’s long-press menu on the iPhone’s English (US) keyboard (iOS 17+); Gboard and other Android keyboards offer similar menus, though the exact set varies.
Copy-paste is a typing method too — every accented form of I copies in one click on the I with accent page, alongside the full typing guides.
Customize î
Style the symbol your way — pick colors, size and shape, then copy the HTML snippet or download a square PNG/SVG (transparent background supported).
