ỉ is the letter i with a hook above, a small question-mark-shaped curl. Vietnamese uses the hook to write the hỏi tone, one of the six tones marked as diacritics on vowels. It is a single precomposed character in the Latin Extended Additional block at U+1EC9. Its capital form is Ỉ (U+1EC8).
