- Hold Alt, type 0251 on the numeric keypad, then release Alt — û appears at the cursor.
Tip: No numeric keypad? Press Win + . for the emoji panel (Symbols tab), or copy the character straight from this page.
Mac
- Press the Option combination for the accent — a highlighted accent mark appears, waiting.
- Type u; the two combine into û.
Tip: Easier still: press and hold the u key itself and a pop-up offers û — type the number shown under it.
iPhone & Android
- On an iPhone or iPad, press and hold the u key on the on-screen keyboard.
- A pop-up row of accented versions appears — slide your finger to û and release.
Tip: The pop-up row comes from the letter’s long-press menu on the iPhone’s English (US) keyboard (iOS 17+); Gboard and other Android keyboards offer similar menus, though the exact set varies.
Copy-paste is a typing method too — every accented form of U copies in one click on the U with accent page, alongside the full typing guides.
