O acute
Latin Capital Letter O with Acute · U+00D3
Ó is the capital O with an acute accent, the uppercase form of ó (U+00F3). It carries the same roles: marking stress or vowel quality in Spanish, Portuguese, Polish and Irish, the sắc (rising) tone on o in Vietnamese, and the Mandarin second tone in Hanyu Pinyin. It appears at the start of sentences and in all-capitals text. Click the tile to copy Ó, then paste it anywhere with Ctrl+V (Windows), Cmd+V (Mac) or a long-press → Paste on a phone.

How to type Ó
Ó is not printed on most English keyboards, but every device hides a shortcut for it. Pick your platform:
Windows
- Turn on Num Lock so the numeric keypad produces digits.
- Hold Alt, type 0211 on the numeric keypad, then release Alt — Ó appears at the cursor.
Tip: No numeric keypad? Press Win + . for the emoji panel (Symbols tab), or copy the character straight from this page.
Mac
- Press the Option combination for the accent — a highlighted accent mark appears, waiting.
- Type Shift+O; the two combine into Ó.
Tip: The press-and-hold pop-up has no shortcut for this exact form, so the Option combination above is the keyboard route — or copy the character straight from this page.
iPhone & Android
- Tap Shift first, then press and hold the o key on the on-screen keyboard.
- A pop-up row of capital accented versions appears — slide your finger to Ó and release.
Tip: The pop-up row comes from the letter’s long-press menu on the iPhone’s English (US) keyboard (iOS 17+); Gboard and other Android keyboards offer similar menus, though the exact set varies.
Copy-paste is a typing method too — every accented form of O copies in one click on the O with accent page, alongside the full typing guides.
