O circumflex
Latin Capital Letter O with Circumflex · U+00D4
Ô is the capital O with a circumflex, the uppercase form of ô (U+00F4). It carries the same roles: the roof-shaped mark of French words like hôpital and côte, the Portuguese circumflex vowel, and the distinct Vietnamese vowel that also takes tone marks. How to type Ô
Ô is not printed on most English keyboards, but every device hides a shortcut for it. Pick your platform:
Windows
- Turn on Num Lock so the numeric keypad produces digits.
- Hold Alt, type 0212 on the numeric keypad, then release Alt — Ô appears at the cursor.

Mac
- Press the Option combination for the accent — a highlighted accent mark appears, waiting.
- Type Shift+O; the two combine into Ô.

iPhone & Android
- Tap Shift first, then press and hold the o key on the on-screen keyboard.

Tip: The pop-up row comes from the letter’s long-press menu on the iPhone’s English (US) keyboard (iOS 17+); Gboard and other Android keyboards offer similar menus, though the exact set varies.
