z circumflex
Latin Small Letter Z with Circumflex · U+1E91
ẑ is the lowercase z with a circumflex, the little roof-shaped mark above the letter. Unlike the circumflex letters of French or Esperanto, it has no home in a national alphabet and appears mainly in specialist transcription and phonetic notation. It is a precomposed character at U+1E91 in the Latin Extended Additional block, with capital form Ẑ. ẑ is not printed on most English keyboards, but every device hides a shortcut for it. Pick your platform:
Windows
- In Microsoft Word, type the hexadecimal code point — 1E91 for ẑ.
- Press Alt+X: the code converts into the character in place.
