Latin Capital Letter U with Ogonek · U+0172
Ų is the capital U with an ogonek, the little hook below the letter. Lithuanian uses it for a long vowel that was historically nasal, alongside Ą, Ę and Į. It is a precomposed character in the Latin Extended-A block at U+0172, and its lowercase form is ų (U+0173). Ų is not printed on most English keyboards, but every device hides a shortcut for it. Pick your platform:
Windows
- In Microsoft Word, type the hexadecimal code point — 0172 for Ų.
- Press Alt+X: the code converts into the character in place.

Mac
